A joke in the press last July struck fear in the hearts of their fans that they were on the verge of a break up. Now with the release today of Old Crows/ Young Cardinal, the bands fourth album to date, fans can finally rest assured that any potential destruction is at least not immediate.

Originally from St. Catharines, Ontario, Alexisonfire who have described their music as “the sound of two Catholic high-school girls in mid-knife-fight,” are following up three consecutive platinum-selling albums with the most recent being the ferocious Crisis (2006). Old Crows/ Young Cardinals features the tracks “No Rest,” and “Young Cardinals.”

Pete Yorn’s Back and Fourth marks a new musical chapter in which the acclaimed singer and songwriter has taken a different approach to writing and recording with stunning results. Back and Fourth follows Yorn’s first three albums, which he considers a trilogy, and is his first album in three years. Yorn wrote all ten songs on Back and Fourth and recorded the album in Omaha, NE, with producer Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley) while Co-Chairman Rick Rubin helped guide the project from its earliest demo stages to final mastering. “Don’t Wanna Cry” is the first single.

Farm is Dinosaur Jr.’s first double LP and their fifth full-length record by the original line-up–J.Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph. At times wholly 70’s guitar-epic, at times perfect for sitting by a babbling brook with Joni and Neil, The ear-catching “Plans” is nearly 7 minutes of classic whipped-topping rock dessert, while “I Don’t Wanna Go There” is a meat and-potatoes main dish, mixing unapologetic lead guitar with straight-ahead delivery. Recorded in J Mascis’ Bisquiteen studio in Amherst, Massachusetts, the abum was produced by Mascis. *Watch Dinosaur Jr. perform on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon June 25th.

Following 8 years on UK indie label Grand Central Records where she was a regular vocalist for artists like AIM and Rae & Christian, and the release of two solo albums, Kate decided it was time to bring it back to her home in Ontario, Canada.

Now, two years after the North American release of the critically acclaimed St Eustacia, and a recent stint singing with Toronto indie rockers The Coast, Kate and her band are running wild and independent with the release of her new album Beauregard. Boasting a little extra energy, punch and indie-pop flavour than earlier recordings, Beauregard gives Kate’s affecting, soulful vocals the opportunity to really flex some muscle.
